pictures of taylor
For me, good music has to fit into
three categories. Those categories are
"Wholesome Lyrics", "In Tune", and "Interesting".
What I mean by "Wholesome Lyrics", is that the words in the song are good and are not offensive to the LORD. There shouldn't be any swearinng in the music. If there were, obviously I wouldn't listen to it.
"In Tune", means that the sounds and/or voices sound good. If there is harmony, the notes should be balanced.
The category "'Interesting" means that the music should be catchy. It should be quick and upbeat, the opposite of boring. The story should tell something good as well as meaningful.
It's always hard to follow my thesis, but most of the time I'll listen to the music that fits my standards. God wants me to listen to acceptable music and I want to praise him!
God created music for us, to praise him. In the Bible it tells us to praise him with many different methods.
For example, Psalm 92:1-2 says,"It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, Oh most High, to proclaim your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night."
Also, in the Bible, Psalm 98:5-6 says,"Make music to the LORD with the harp and the sound of singing, with trumpets and the blast of the ram's horn-shout for joy before the LORD, the King." God says to use many different instruments to make music and worship him.
In Psalm 150, there are a lot of diferent instruments listed: trumpet, harp, lyre, tambourine, strings, flute and the cymbals!!
We should honour God every hour of every day, even with all the different instruments he gave us and our voices!
