“Juror Eight justifies his vote when he says, “There were eleven votes for guility - it’s not easy for me to raise my hand and send a boy off to die without talking about it first” (Rose 15).
Juror Nine explains why he changes his vote when he says, “It takes a great deal of courage to stand alone even if you believe in something very strongly. He left the verdict up to us. He gambled for support and I gave it to him. I want to hear more” (Rose 19).
The evolution of the theme becomes apparent in the final vote when all of the jurors come to a unanimous not guilty verdict (63).

Single parent, Stuart Chaifetz, receives reports of “uncharacteristic outbursts by the child” and suspects that teachers are bullying his autistic son (Walsh and Dunn).
Chaifetz sent his son to school strapped with a wire and captured audio of his autistic son being verbally abused by special education aides (Walsh and Dunn).
After no response from school, Chaifetz releases YouTube video to stand up against school and bring about a change. The video received 4 million views (Walsh and Dunn).
Chaifetz’s bold move resulted in a
public response from the school district
, including statements about the
termination of employment
of several of the involved parties,
correspondence from other people who are seeking advice as to how to use technology to protect their children
, and even prompted a proposal from Assemblyman Dave Rible about
creating a special education expert task force to deal with such situations
