As a child LBJ struggled. His mom, Gloria, was only 16 when she had him. She couldn't keep a steady job, so she decided to let LeBron live with his local football coach, Frank Walker. This is how LBJ got introduced to basketball when he was only nine years old.
sTARTED FROM THE BOTTOM
LeBron began to play AAU basketball for the Northeast Ohio Shooting Stars. He led his team to local and national success with his friends Sian Cotton, Dru Joyce III, and Willie McGee. They acquired the nickname "The Fab 4." They all promised to attend high school together, so they decided to go to St. Vincent- St. Mary instead of their local public school. St. Vincent was a largely white, private school, and this caused local controversy.
High School Career
LeBron's freshman year he averaged 21 pts., and 6 rebounds per game. They went 27-0 and won the division III state title. His sophomore year he averaged 25.2 pts., 7.2 rebounds, 5.8 assits, and 3.8 steals. They went 26-1 and repeated as state champs. He was named Ohio's Mr. Basketball and was selected to the USA Today All USA First Team, becoming the first sophomore to ever do so. He was featured in
as "the best high school basketball player in America right now."He was the first underclass player to appear in Sports Illustrated. He became the first Junior to ever win
Gatorade National Payer of the Year Award
. His junior year his team was state runner up in division II. He was going to enter the 2002 NBA draft before his senior year, but the rules are that you have to at least recieved a diploma. His senior year, LBJ averaged 31.2 pts per game, along with 9.6 rebounds, 4.6 assits, and 3.4 steals. He played in the EA Sports Roudball Classic, the Jordan Capital Classic, and the 2003 McDonalds All-American game. This caused him to lose his NCAA eligibility, making it official that he was entering the draft.
He was chosen by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2003 draft. He scored 25 pts during his first NBA game. His season high as a rookie was 41 pts. He was the youngest player in league history to score at least 40 at 19 yrs. He was eventually named rookie of the year, and became the first Cav to join MJ and Oscar Robertson to average 20pts in his rookie year. LBJ recorded his first triple-double the following season, and became an All-Star game selection. He went on to break numerous records for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
LeBron James was born December 30th, 1984 in the town of Akron, Ohio. He is 6ft. 8 and weighs 250 lbs. He plays in the NBA, and is a forward for the Miami Heat.
LBJ became a member of the Miami Heat July 10th, 2010, signing a 6 year contract. He became "the villian" as social media put him down. His move to Miami was not recieved well by the public. He returned to Cleveland for the first time since departing. He ended the game with 38 pts, getting booed every time he touched the ball. He enter the playoffs not doing so well, where they stumbled in the finals to the Dallas Mavericks. He averaged on 4 pts in the 4th quarter of every game. James recieved the burn of the critisicm. He had the lowest drop off in league history.
