What your Middle School Librarian can do for you!
By Janette Daniel

So how can my librarian help me?
We normally think of the following-
finding books
procuring class sets of novels
helping find books to have as research materials in class
But he/she can also
Co-teach
Teach about copyright laws and plagiarism
assist students in technology projects
assist in finding books that reluctant readers would be interested in reading

Research was done in the library using these!
When I was in school
Old School Google
We live in a digital world and teach students who have never seen a card catalog.
But today...
And that world changes quickly!
So who can you count on to help?
Well, maybe not Superman,
but your librarian does a lot more
than just check out books!
Let's start with the Degree
In the state of Texas, librarians are required to be certified as a librarian; however, most librarians retain a Master of Science in Library and Information Technology Sciences so that they may work at any library-not just at a school.
Help you and your students create things like this:

You don't have to do it all by yourself. Your librarian enables you to work together and can ease the burden of research projects and technology integration.
