"The dangerous nymph calypso lives and sings there in her beauty, and she recieved me, loved me." Calpso was a beautiful sea god who loved Odysseus. Odysseus resided on her isle for seven years. He has lustful feelings for Calypso, but his heart still lies with Penelope, therefore he leaves Calypso and her isle to return to his home in Ithaca. Poseidon Zeus "Now zeus lord of the cloud roused in the north a storm against the ship." "'My ship? Poseidon, Lord, who sets the earth a tremble, broke it up on the rocks at your land's end. A wind from seaward served him, drove us there.'" "Now come to the soul of Anticlea, dead, my mother, daughter of Autolycus, dead now, though living still when i took ship from holy troy." "Dear friends, more than one man, or two, should know those things Circe foresaw for us." Circe was an enchantress who helped Odysseus and his crew by giving him advice on how to avoid the dangerous tasks they will have to overcome. Penelope is the wife of Odysseus and mother of Telemachus. Odysseus leaves her behind for 20 years because of the Trojan war and his long journey home. Odysseus Telemachus was Odysseus' new born son when he departed for the Trojan war. When Odysseus returns, he is 20 years old.
