Can you guess what these images stand for or represent? What do all of these images have in common? Symbols allow people to communicate
beyond the limits of language Humans use symbolism all the time,
just like authors. A symbol is a person, place, or obejct that stands for something beyond itself. They can be tricky though!

personal interpretations chump change or an ellusive treasure? a literary symbol gains its meaning
from the context of its work. you have
to be detectives and critical thinkers to
figure symbols out!
