hydrogen Fuel cells Strengths of Fuel Cells Can power nearly any energy need Can be used as backup power or for transportation 3 times more efficient than combustion technology Operate quietly Provides many more jobs and new markets Location Can be anywhere California's Zero Emission Vehicle Program Hydrogen is costly It is expensive to create hydrogen power... but hydrogen fuel can do more Hydrogen car faster than electric car No pollution from car How it works... Low environmental impact Easy to store Nontoxic Can be renewable The Future of Hydrogen Fuel Will take at least 25 years to completly phase in Once more cars have been produced then more fuel stations can be built and hydrogen fuel can be accessable to anyone Don't have to rely on other countries for oil Using hydrogen can reduce demand for oil by more than 11 million barrels per day by the year 2040 Estimated 200 to 300 hydrogen powered vechiles are on the road today in the U.S. In the U.S. there are 63 hyrdogen refueling stations--half are located in California About 9 million metric tons of Hydrogen are produced in the U.S. annually--enough to power 20-30 million cars How to get Hydrogen Steam reforming
