Born on October 25, 1881, in Malaga Spain.
His parents are Jose Ruiz Blaso and Maria Picasso Lopez.
Grew up in a middle-class family.
Oldest of three, he had two sisters.
Early Life before 1901
Blue Period 1901-1904
Influenced by his journey through Spain and by the suicide of his friend Carlos Casagemas in 1901.
His blue works reflected his experience of relative poverty,instability, depicting beggers,street urchines, the blind, and the old and the frail.
Rose Period 1904-1906
Inspired by meeting Fernande Oliver in 1904.
Harlequins, circus perfomers and clowns appear frequentley in his paintings.'
African-influenced Period 1907-1909
Picasso was influenced when he saw the African sculptures at the Trocadero museum in Paris.
Analytical and Synthetic Cubism are the two major branches of the artistic movement of Cubism.
Classiscism and Surrealism Period 1918-1945
Later works after 1945
He joined the communist party and became a member of the peace movement.
In winter of 1953 he created a series of 180 drawings known as the Verve suite.
He created more artwork then he did in his other periods.
1893 - School of Fine and Applied Arts, in La Coruna.
In 1895- tragic event; moves to Barcelona.
In 1897- attended The Royal Academy of San Fernando.
Between WWI and the Spanish war.
The Classical period was more a nuturing style.
The surrealisit's gave Picasso new ideas for paintings that contained distorted images.
