Tsunamis occur because of volcanic eruptions ,landslides or other movements of the earths surface .A tsunami is a large wave that is caused by sudden motion on the ocean floor .Tsunamis can cause tremendous damage .
What are tsunamis ?
Firstly tsunamis are large waves caused by sudden movement of the ocean ,due to volcanic eruptions ,earthquakes and landslides .Tsunamis can also occur by strong winds
How much damage can a tsunami do?
Thirdly even though tsunamis lose energy as they approach the shore they can still have the power to knock down one house in one go . Tsunamis can be formed when the sea floor abruptly deforms and vertically displaces the overlaying water .Tectonic earthquakes are the type of earth quakes the make tsunamis happen .
How does a tsunami approach shore?
Secondly a tsunami is a natural disaster that occurs on the ocean floor. As a tsunami approaches the shore it begins to slow and grow in height ,just like other waves .Tsunamis start to lose energy as they approach the.
How much damage can a tsunami do ?
For instance after the 2004 tsunami in south Asia the estimated cost to rebuild Asia was 4.4 billion dollars .
In conclusion
once a tsunami has destroyed land it looks like a big puddle of muddy water.
