The independent variable in my expierment is: Can I change which type of soda will explode the highest when I add a different amount of mentos? The dependent variable in my expierent is: The height of the soda's geyser. The dependent variable in my expierment is: The height of the soda's geyser. The control variables in my expierment are: I will be using the same type of soda in each trial and the same amount of mentos in each different trial. Hypothesis
If I drop 3,4,5 mentos into Diet Sprite, Diet Coke, and Diet Coke then I think that Diet Coke will explode the highest when I test them all because I think that Diet Coke creates more foam and fiz than any other types of soda. 2-liter bottles of Diet Soda

A roll or box of Mentos mints

A piece of paper to make notes

Pencil or pen to write with. How I will measure the data! I am going to use a tape measure to see how high ech soda explodes in the air. I will record the height of each geyser. After I will make a graph and see which one exploded the highest. I will also take pictures of each seperate soda with their geysers. Then when I am making the graph and measuring the geyser, I will be using feet. Also I will adding a different amount of mentos every time i test all three sodas and still see which one exploded the highest. Expierment day! Trial 1! Dr.Pepper Sprite 6ft. 4.2ft. Diet Coke
7ft. Trial 2! Diet Sprite
7ft. 4 mentos 5 mentos Diet Dr.Pepper
5.6ft. Diet Coke
5.8 Trial 3!
3 mentos Diet Sprite
4ft. Diet Dr.Pepper

11ft. Conclusion!
When I tested three sodas I did three trials. Trial 1 had 4 mentos. Trial 2 had 5 mentos. And trial 3 had 3 mentos. When I did trial 1 my results were that Diet Coke's geyser was the highest. It was 7ft tall. When I did trial 2 Diet Sprite's geyser was the highest also 7ft tall. The last trial I did again Diet Coke's geyser was the highest. It was 11ft tall. It seemed when I added less mentos the height of the geyser was increasing. My hypothesis was correct, Diet Coke was the highest soda to explode. I was not correct when I said that if I added more mentos the geyser would increase, but the less mentos there were the higher the geyser would increase. I think that Diet Coke exploded the highest because there are alot of bubbles and acid in Coke. Once the minty peppermint shell was dropped in the Soda it caused it to EXPLODE! I would like to this this experiment again but with using different types of soda and different flavors of mentos. If I ever did do the experiment again I would be trying to figure out which mento type would make the soda explode higher! The End! Procedures Go outside on a flat piece of land/field.

Open the bottle of soda, make the bottle steady so it will not tip over.

Unwrap the whole roll of Mentos, position it over the bottle of soda so they will go in at the same time.

Warn everyone to stand back...

Drop the Mentos into the bottles of Diet Soda.

Measure the height of each soda's geyser.

Record the height of each soda and how high they explode.

See which type of soda explodes the highest when mentos are added.
