Lana, our Associate
Director of Human
Resources, began her
career at WSU in 2008. She
currently oversees the
management of shared
leave, the timekeeping
team, community involvement, and claims for
unemployment. Her passion is improving processes
and creating a vision for HR. She also loves
unique junk and music – especially country;
whether two stepping or clogging,
she’s got the beat.
Dale serves as the
Operations Project Coordinator
where he develops and implements new
methods to streamline HR processes,
Timekeeping and Employment training
development, provides PeopleAdmin technical support,
assists the employment team and oversees the HR
electronic document management process within
ImageNow. Dale enjoys reading, being outdoors and dabbling in home automation.
Relations & Training
Julie, serves as our Employment
Manager where she oversees all
classified job searches, drug screenings,
Veteran's preference, PeopleAdmin
Training and Agency & State
Julie completed her B.S. in Human Services and Psychology at
Friends University and her M.A. in Human Resource Management
at Webster University.
Julie’s hobbies include camping, reading, singing and
spending time with her husband, son, and 3 dog children.
She is interested in the protection of wildlife habitats
and has a special interest in the giant panda, the
mountain gorilla, and the polar bear.
Tonya has served on campus for over 30 years. She is the recruiter for Physical Plant job
searches, as well as supports other classified
searches. Utilizing the PeopleAdmin system, she reviews, posts, updates, and maintains these
positions. She provides counsel to employees
and applicants regarding employment
opportunities and proper procedures. She
also assists in performing background
checks, student hire sign-ups and
timekeeping. Tonya loves
spending time with
Frankie, the Director of Human
Resources, has dedicated her time
and talents to Wichita State for the
past 30 years. Her roles include performance management process
president for the National Council of Urban
League Guilds and advises for the Sigma
Gamma Rho sorority and Omega
Psi Phi fraterity.

concerns and procedures. She is well known on campus
for her professionalism and overall willingness to go the
extra mile. Frankie loves her community as
demonstrated by her service as the current
Shelly has dedicated 25 years
of faithful service to WSU and
the Human Resources department.
Her responsibilities include HR
purchaser, employee tuition
assistance program manager, and
Director's assistant, including
supporting the Director with claims against the State.
Beyond her roles in HR, Shelly loves crocheting,
reading, serving in her church, and spending
time with family. She especially enjoys
her grandkids and dog, Megan.
For 4 years WSU has
had the fortune of Tamie's
service. As a new addition to HR
we enjoy the excellent customer
service she provides as our
receptionist. Her ability to
manage multiple phone lines,
maintain accurate files, and perform various HR projects is an invaluable asset to
our team. Off the beaten paths of WSU's campus,
Tamie enjoys things such as hiking, photography,
playing in the snow and a bit of country
For over 20 years Joan has
served WSU. She is responsible
for lecturer and hourly sign-ups and
exit interviews, address changes,
written employment verifications, timekeeping, and providing longevity/
length of service information. Joan is well known in the office for her excellent
baking skills, especially her yummy
Brownie Torte. She also enjoys reading suspense novels, watching NCIS and spending time with her family.
Margene has been
with WSU since 2000
where she manages
sign-ups and exit
interviews for classified
and student staff,
checks, verbal employment
verifications, and ePAF approvals
and questions. She is also a notary. Her interests
include, learning about different languages and cultures,
any outdoor adventure or activity, horseback riding,
sports, crafts, gardening, drawing, sewing, cooking,
music, books, and being with family and
Tanya, a 2002
graduate with a BS
degree in Human Resource
Management, has worked at
WSU since July 2005. She has
held various positions in the HR department, and currently
serves as our Benefits Specialist. Outside of work, she
enjoys spending time with her husband, Curtis, and sons,
Noah and Ryder. Together they enjoy cheering on the
Shockers at Men’s Basketball games. This can get
very interesting when WSU plays Missouri State.
Kim serves the HR Team as the Assistant Director of Benefits. She brings a depth of knowledge ranging from analyzing complex benefits plans to consulting on a wide variety of general human resources
topics which is a great resource to the department and
the university clients we serve.
When she is not working to serve the WSU
community she loves spending time with her
family, cooking, reading, fishing, and
she is an excellent pianist.

Administrative Specialist for
the past 9 years, excels at
meeting the needs of all
WSU staff with a high level of confidentiality and
professionalism. Her motto is “We can take care of it!”
Her responsibilities include managing worker’s
compensation claims, employee relations questions,
supervisory training, and continuing education
tracking. LaMar also enjoys singing with her
church choir, serving the Urban League
Guild and infusing joy and laughter
with all those she meets.
Randi is having a blast
working in HR and loves
helping all employees! When
Randi is not conducting New
Employee Orientation or
tracking training data, she enjoys boating, creating
extravagant Christmas light displays and playing
with her new son, Emmett, and dog, Beta.
Ross is the HR Team's data
guru (aka. HR Analyst, but we like 'guru' better). He is responsible for providing technical
support to HR by analyzing HR data and writing reports that help us provide effective and efficient business support to university staff and departments.
Beneath his geeky exterior, he enjoys tinkering with
toy trains, traveling to small town B&B’s, and eating
at local restaurants. Ross also volunteers at youth
camps, working at the archery range,
swimming pool, and occasionally he finds
himself being used as a human
Libby, our resident guru on all things FLSA,
FMLA and other HR law, has a passion
for quilting and the color purple. In her spare time she loves to read and
do research. Her favorite reads, the

pertaining to employment
Libby's favorite quote: "I'm not stubborn,
Janelle has been with WSU for over 25 years.
As our Benefits Assistant she ensures our efforts
to be green by maintaining our HR documents in ImageNow. She also performs various tasks, such as updating and verifying the accuracy of classified position descriptions on the Topeka audit spreadsheet. Janelle is essential to the HR team's
efficiency and organization. As a connoisseur of
life, Janelle enjoys quilting, being outdoors,
walking and baking.
