A video game is a virtual electronic version of a game. For example, in a video game version of soccer, you press a button on a controller to create visual feedback on a video device, like a TV, simulating a person kicking a ball. Video games are often rated by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB). Ratings tell who the game is appropriate for. The ratings they give are shown to the right. "RP" means that it is not yet rated. Video games are often played for entertainment.

Video games are played on consoles. There are hand held consoles, and home consoles. Hand helds usually use cartridges, while home consoles usually use discs. Home consoles constantly need to be plugged into a wall, (usually) while hand helds are charged with a charger every so often, and don't constantly need to be plugged in.

Virtual Realities
Video games are often designed to follow a series of linked commands. For example: "If player tries to open door, door gremlin throws player throws player in fire unless they have money, in which case gremlin takes the money and lets player pass..." and so on and so forth. These commands are all linked and dependent on the first command. These can be used to make glitches. A glitch is a problem in a games software that causes unwanted things to happen. Programing is important.
