Normally, I have a great time abroad with my friends, but I'm not having a wonderful time on this trip. Usually we stay in a hotel, but this time we're renting a self-catering apartment, in Calletta on the island of Malta. The words in red are in Present Tense. Present Continuous Simple Present Tense Simple Past Grammar - Tenses Used to talk about something that happens always, regularly, often, sometimes or never. Used to state facts, or say something you know about a person or thing. Used to talk about things that have been arranged for the future. Used to talk about actions in the present, or things that are going on or happening now. Used to talk about things that you have panned to do in the future. Used for temporary situations and activities. Used to talk about things that happened in the past. Used for an activity that was ongoing but has now stopped. Used to talk about things that happened in stories. Past Continuous Used for the situation that was ongoing when a certain single action took place. Used for an activity that was ongoing at a certain point in the past. Example: I empty the dustbin every day. Example: Megan likes to eat strawberries. Example: The train departs in ten minutes. Example: They are building a new community centre near my school. Example: We are going to Sentosa on Saturday. Example: I am taking over Mrs Lee's lesson for this week. Example: John worked as a tailor in the town of Hopscotchy. Example: My mother worked as a cashier until she got married. Example: I bought a new computer yesterday. Example: I was doing my homework when my mother called. Example: I was eating dinner at 8pm last night.
