And what strategies may be appropriate? Franchising Substitution What is it? A franchise is an ongoing business relationship where one party ('the franchisor') grants to another ('the franchisee') the right to distribute goods or services using the franchisor’s brand and system in exchange for a fee. Advantages of franchising:

*Grow your business faster,
* Increased Capital,
* Franchising motivates the franchisee in terms of profit,
* Increased purchasing power and possibly also reduced overheads,
* More likely to thrive in a recession than non-franchised businesses.

Disadvantages of franchising
* The major disadvantage is loss of control,
* Part of your profit element is used in supporting the franchisee,
* You will have to share substantial know-how and information,
* The skills required to control franchisees and provide the back up support are different from those involved in operating a business through employees. Yes why?

‘Boost Partners are dynamic, inspirational people who have fresh ideas and new energy. We recruit like-minded people who share our enthusiasm and energy and believe that for Boost Juice to be successful, everyone involved must share the passion and the rewards’. (David, Boost Juice: How Do They Do It? A Story of Business Success, January 30, 2011) Opening its first store in South Australia in 2000, the brand had then commenced franchising in 2001 and has become so popular due to its franchising strategy. Until now there are more than 180 stores operating throughout Australia with a growth platform of an average of 23 stores a year for five years. (Andrew, Case Study of Boost Juice, 29 March 2011)
In Mid 2009 they had stores in Australia, Chile, Dubai, Kuwait, Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong and South Africa.
Definition of 'Acquisition'
A corporate action in which a company buys most, if not all, of the target company's ownership stakes in order to assume control of the target firm. Acquisitions are often made as part of a company's growth strategy whereby it is more beneficial to take over an existing firm's operations and niche compared to expanding on its own.
