He who warned, uh, the … the British that they weren’t gonna be takin’ away our arms, uh, by ringin’ those bells and, um, by makin’ sure that as he’s ridin’ his horse through town to send those warnin’ shots and bells that, uh, we were gonna be secure and we were gonna be free … and we were gonna be armed.

Goals?
1.) Warn of British plan to seize armory in Concord

2.) Warn Samuel Adams and John Hancock of their
upcoming arrests for their roles in the SoL.

3.) Warn countryside of a British invasion (quietly)

Why isn't he the famous one?
10:00PM - Revere leaves Boston,
he is rowed by friends across the
Charles River to a borrowed horse
11:00PM - Revere departs from
Charlestown. Before leaving, Revere
has 3 friends place lanterns in the
Old North Church to show the British
movements. The lanterns are to alert
the backup riders (so they can alert the
countryside). Revere never sees lanterns!
"Then"
"Now"
"One if by land, two if by sea."
10:00pm - British patrols
setup around Boston
12:05AM - Revere alerts
Sam Adams and John
Hancock of British plan.
Revere waits for Dawes.
12:30AM - Dawes meets
Revere, both leave for
Concord
12:45AM - Prescott joins Revere and Dawes,
all three proceed toward Concord
1:00AM - British soldiers stop
all 3 men. Revere and Dawes are
arrested (Dawes later escapes).
Prescott escapes.
2:00AM - British soldiers
begin march from Boston
toward Lexington
2:00AM - Revere is released. However, his horse is taken, so he travels back to the Clarke House (where Adams and Hancock were staying)
4:30AM - Revere helps Adams
and Hancock flee to Buckman's
Tavern, brings "Hancock's Trunk."
5:00AM - As Revere takes the trunk,
he watches the "shot heard 'round
the world" at Lexington.
The Battle of Lexington and Concord
Known as the "Shot Heard '
Round the World"
WHY?
The entire world was on the edge of their seat, waiting for this "monumental" event to take place
9:30pm - Dawes leaves Boston,
traveling South across the "neck"
of Boston
11:30PM - Revere reaches Medford, alerts residents (quietly - he doesn't want to alert the swarm of Redcoats that they know the British plan!)
- Hired by Boston
Committee of Correspondence
