The Present Tense The Present Tense is used to talk about what is happening at the moment. An example would be 'I am eating a pizza' or 'I eat a pizza' In French, putting a verb in the Present Tense is easy! There are 3 types of verbs in French; those that end with -ER in the infinitive, those that end with -RE in the infinitive, and those that end with -IR in the infinitve. manger oublier crier trouver chercher marcher vendre prendre peindre étendre mordre craindre Finir Tenir Mourir Sortir Partir To put an -ER verb into the present tense: 1 Take off the -ER 2 Add the present tense endings for an -ER verb: Je : -e
Tu : -es
Il/Elle/On : -e
Nous : -ons
Vous : -ez
Ils/Elles : -ent EXAMPLE ER verbs: IR Verbs: 1 Again, take off the ending - the -IR 2 Add the endings for an -IR verb: Je : -is
Tu : -is
Il/Elle/On : -it
Nous : -issons
Vous : -issez
Ils/Elles : -issent Marcher (to walk) Je marche
Tu marches
Il/Elle/On marche
Nous marchons
Vous marchez
