This quote relates to the theme because it was out of "The Whistler". One of the books Liesel read in the mayors library.
"All my life, I've been scared of men standing over me..." p.237
This quote relates to the theme because it was the first page in the first book Max wrote for Liesel. It was called the "The Standover Man".
'"If only she could be so oblivious again, to feel such love without knowing it, mistaking it for laughter" p.358
This quote could relate to the theme because its talking about how she needs the love of friendship and family to help her feel loved. It shows how loved Liesel is
"Bold and bright, a trilogy of happiness" p.358
The quote relates to the theme by showing how happy someone can be knowing someone loves them. Also that they have a good bestfriend and family.
For Book Thief
"The words were not spoken, but they were definitely there" p.360
This relates to the theme because Rudy and Liesel. They always had feelings but were always only friends cause they didn't tell each other.
"Coming from happy, enjoying pleasure and contentment." p.358
This quote shows how the theme relates/could relate to friendship. It shows how happy someone can be when they let positive things in.
"She was transparent but she was there." p.368
This quote relates to one of the moments the mayor's wife and Liesel had. It was how Liesel felt about the mayor's wife.
" It will take a thousand visits till all of them are gone." p.369
This relates to the theme because this was in one of the letters the mayor's wife wrote to Liesel. It shows that they had a friendship through the books
"THE BEST word shakers were the ones who understood the true power of words." p.446
This relates to the theme by showing the friendship the word shaker had with the man who came up to get her down.
"There were people everywhere on the city street, but the stranger could not have been more alone if it were empty." p.473
This relates to the theme because it shows how a person would feel if they didn't have a friendship with anyone. It would put them down so it's always nice to have a friendship with someone.
