Things to consider when Choosing a Related Text
Remember:
Try and choose a text type that is different to your prescribed text. This allows you to discuss a wider range of text features and structures.
Do your best to select texts that extend and showcase your abilities. Your related text is an opportunity to make your response original and sophisticated.
Your related text should be rich in techniques
that create meaning in sophisticated manner.
Ensure you ORT (Other Related Text) explore various aspects related to the concept Discovery.
The rubric is HUGE! And you can be asked anything from it.
Poetry and Song Lyrics
Advantages:
Poems must express their ideas in a much short form than prose.
Therefore poetry is precise language, and
generally rich with techniques.
Poems are note just subject driven, but thematic, therefore ideas are often communicated conceptually.
They are short, easy to remember and manageable.
Easily written about in 20 minutes.

Short Stories and Prose
Advantages:
Short stories, like short films and poems must express their ideas in a much short form than prose.
Therefore like poetry they are
generally rich with techniques.

Alternatively, you can select an extract or extracts from longer prose text.
