Della cut her hair and sold it to buy Jim a chain for his pocket watch
They both sacrificed their most prized possessions for the other. Jim Della Conflict Della only has $1.87 to buy Jim a Christmas Present Quotes Conflict Johnsy says that she will die when the last leaf on the ivy vine falls. Quotes "Didn't you ever wonder why it never fluttered or moved when the wind blew? Ah, darling, it's Behrman's masterpiece-he painted it there the night that the last leaf fell." Quotes "...let it be said that of all who give gifts, these two were the wisest." I liked this quote because I think that they were very wise in giving their gifts. I liked this quote because Johnsy learns that the leaf did fall, but Behrman painted another to make her stay alive. O. Henry William Sydney Porter Was born in North Carolina in 1862. In 1897 he was convicted of embezzling money, although it is unclear whether he actually did. When he got out of prison in 1901, He changed his name to O. Henry. From 1904 to his death in 1910, he published many collections of short stories. Three more appeared posthumously. Created by:
