Antarctica Land Transport Food Chain History of Antarctica In the food chain there are the producers
(phytoplankton, algae, mosses, liverworts)
they are consumed by krill. The krill are
the main food source. If any of the krill or
producers were wiped out none of the
animals would suvive exept for the springtail.
There are not many different ways of transport in
Antarctica. Because of the ice. There are about 6 ways of
transport here are two of them. Here are two ways of transport. The land in Antarctica is made most of ice. Most of the ice is made from fresh water. In the winter the water around antarctica freezes causing Antarctica to expand. Climate 350 BC The Greeks came up with the idea of Antarctica. Bases We have four bases in Antarctica. Casey, Davis, Mawson and Macquarie Island.
Casey is located in the Windmill Islands (just outside the Antarctic Circle).
Davis is the most southerly Australian Antarctic station and is situated 2,250 nautical miles south-south-west of Perth.
Mawson is situated on an isolated outcrop of rock on the coast in Mac.Robertson Land, at the edge of the Antarctic plateau.
Macquarie Island is a subantarctic island located in the Southern Ocean, approximately half way between Australia and Antarctica. http://www.aad.gov.au
