Gaddafi and Macbeth : Loyal Subjects The Tyranny Begins Macbeth Gaddafi Parallel Macbeth Gaddafi Gaddafi Parallel Macbeth The Rise to Power He was a colonel when he overthrew the government, under the rule of King Idris I, through a bloodless coup d'etat. He is the Thane of Glamis and Cawdor when he kills King Duncan to become king. Both Macbeth and Gaddafi were in positions of power and influence when they overthrew their leaders. He was a colonel well known as a skilled political strategist that helped his country out of diplomatic isolation. The injured captain calls him brave Macbeth. Duncan says he is valiant and worthy. "Good Guys" Both are well respected and loyal subjects that their
rulers rely on. He begins a reign of tyranny when, after killing Duncan, he escalates into killing innocents like Banquo and Macduff's family. His rule has been accused of human rights violations. He
imprisoned, tortured, and sentenced hundreds of people to death without trial. Both took many innocent lives for their own personal
need for power. A Parallel of Two Tyrants Parallel He hires murderers to kill Banquo, Fleance (who escapes ), and Macduff's family. He used his power over his military and commanded them to kill many people They both manipulated people beneath them, with their power, to murder for them. The Tyranny Ends Macbeth His imperious ways become so
out of hand, Malcolm and Macduff have no choice but to intervene. Gaddafi Parallel Project By: Veronica Chan and Keona Silva Pinto Both abused their power to the point where ultimately, their power caused their downfall FINIS He was killed by revolutionary forces in order to end his autocratic regime.
