The Design Process is an iterative process because steps are repeated until the problem is solved.

An engineer designs, builds, tests, analyzes and refines until a solution is reached.
Design Iteration
The design process is a specific method used to develop
many
possible solutions to solve a problem.

It is used to narrow down the possible solutions to a final choice.

The design process is never final- there are always multiple solutions to a problem.

The design process is influenced by requirements called criteria and constraints.
What do Engineers Do?
Step 2 - Generate Concepts
because engineers have to research, brainstorm and then develop several solutions that meet the criteria.
Which stage is the most important and difficult?
How do engineers choose the best solution to a problem?
They analyze test results and refine their product until it becomes the best solution that meets the criteria and solves the problem.
Why Do Engineers Use the Design Process?
To be sure they have the best solution to a problem after eliminating the other solutions through testing.
