Double click anywhere & add an idea Strategies Sit-ins African americans would go and sit in white only resturaunts and sit there, wouldnt even move when asked. Many times things could get violent. ` March on Washington There was a massive march in Washington D.C in the summer of 1963. The " I had a dream" speach took place. This pursuaded the U.S. congress to pass the Civil Rights act in 1964 the also passed and the voting rights act a year later. Freedon Summer Mississippi African Americans tried to register for voting th K.K.K didnt like this at all. The K.K.K tried to stop this by church fires-bombing and murders. Freedom Rides Black and whites would go to bus station to bus station and because bus waiting ares were segragated whites would go to black areas and black would go to white areas to protest. Rosa Parks People She was a brave African American lady who refused to give up her seat to a white man. Malcolm X An African American man who was a minister, Public speaker and a human rights activist. Thurgood Marshall First African American to serve on the Supreme court. Marin Luther king Jr. He was the leader in African American Civil Rights Movement . He made the " I had a dream" speech. He beileved in non-violence. Organization KKK Black Panthers NAACP White people would carry around guns for self-defence
