Transcript of Allusions in Pop Culture
By: Emily Pinkerton
Allusion from pop culture media to another piece of pop culture media.
During the song, Phineas and Ferb sing about their mummy. They make an allusion to the movie, the Lion King, as they walk across the log just as Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa walk across the log in the famous disney classic.
Allusion from a piece of pop culture media to a classic piece of literature.
Love Story By: Taylor Swift
This popular song by Taylor Swift alludes to the classic tale of Romeo and Juliet. It is refering to one of the greatest love stories ever written, alluding that they, the people in the song, are very much in love. It aslo shows us that their love is forbidden, just like in the novel.
Allusion from a piece of literature to another piece of literature.
In the novel, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis many biblical allusions are made. One being that Aslan, the God-like figure, sacrifices himself so Edmond can live just like in the biblical story of Jesus Christ dieing for everyone and taking the punishment we rightfully deserved.
Brave and strong he wants to be.
Seeking virtue and fortune so others can see.
Son of a God, he hoped to one day be called,
Full of adventure, not wanting to fall.
To carry on the legacy, his life long dream,
To conquer his own Polyphemus,
To be seen as a king.
Allusion from your own piece of media to a pice of literature discussed in class.
In this poem i wrote, the man wants to conquer his own Polyphemus, alluding to the story of Odysseus when he defeats Polyphemus, the Cyclops. He wants to be a legend and overcome his battles just like in the story of The Cyclops.
