Bacteria in the House

Conclusion:

In conclusion the hypothesis was, “ If you use Clorox wipes on bacteria in different locations in your house then the bacteria will decrease because the bleach in Clorox works as anti bacterial substance.” This hypothesis was somewhat correct. Clorox Wipes was one of the two cleaning products that worked the best on killing and prevention of bacteria growth. Clorox wipes This lab connects to the world because it is important to have the knowledge of which products work best on which area you are cleaning. It is also important to know so you don’t waste your money on products that do not work, but instead make the bacteria growth worse. Also for people who are allergic to bacteria and germs need to know that dirtiDuring this experiment there were no human errors that occurred or interfered with the experiment or the outcome of the data.
III. Hypothesis:
If you use Clorox wipes on bacteria in different locations in your house then the bacteria will decrease because the bleach in Clorox works as anti bacterial substance.
IV. Variables:
Manipulated Variable: cleaning products, and places in the house
Responding Variable: Where bacteria is most common in the house
Controlled Variable: The locations, the temperature
II. Question:
What type of cleaning products eliminate the bacteria in different locations of your house in the most effective way?
We usually judge dirty and germy places with the naked eye. The products we use for these places mostly satisfies what we see. My Exit Project will put these places and products to a test and reveal some incognito guests. I will investigate what places you should clean the most in your home, and with what you should clean them. I chose this topic because this topic is not commonly tested and important to everyday life the places I will test are, the kitchen sink, the toilet and the TV remote. The products I will test these places with are Clorox Clean-Ups, Nice! Magic Erasers, Mr. Clean Wipes, and Method All-Purpose.
V. Materials:
Dark closet or dark room where the samples will not be disturbed
Places to test (the kitchen sink the bathroom, toilet, my hands.)
8 petri dishes

Graph Analysis:

The first graph show that all of the products decreased the amount of bacteria by .5 on the TV remote With no product the bacteria was scaled as a 1.5 and all the products reduced that number to 1. The second graph show that the Mr. clean anti-bacteria had no effect on the bacteria in the Kitchen sink. The clorox and method all purpose reduced the bacteria by 1. Lastly the Nice! made more bacteria grow by 1 unit on the bacteria scale. The last graph shows the effect on the Toilet, clorox and method all purpose decreased the amount of bacteria by 1, Nice! did not affect the bacteria in scored a 1 and Mr. Clean increased the amount of bacteria by 2. The graphs also show that the kitchen sink and the toilet where the dirtiest places.

Another experiment that could be conducted for further research is to test how many times a week is the most effective number to have the cleanest surface. You could over the course of many weeks test a different number of times to clean a surface and then repeat steps 1-4 of my experiment. You would use Clorox Wipes and Method All-Purpose because they showed to be the best products to clean surfaces with.
