smartphone well Create a public facebook page Don't tweet news that's three hours old like it's breaking news Share the rest of the story, not just the published one Ask how people feel or to share their advice Show love to your fans and followers Don't use your accounts to as blatant self promotion tools Don't worry about the numbers of likes or followers you have but pay attention to the stats Respond, re-tweet or like their responses
But, you don't have to repond to everyone This makes it easy for your fans to find you
Increase your privacy on your personal profile to help you seperate your proffessional and "private" facebook life It's a huge turn off It is one of the most effective ways to get social and it's always with you Show the extra clips, interviews and candid pics
Don't be afraid to show the personal side of you
Consider showing out takes/ bloopers
This is like an added bonus for those who follow you The data tells you what is engages your audience and what doesn't
Use this info to share more of what they want to see or hear about This encourages engagement
People will feel like you care As a journalist, this is one of the quickest ways to lose credibility
It's okay to retweet etc just make sure you are not acting like it's new Your social activity drives traffic back to your employer's website.
