Plagiarism
what do you think it is?
words that mean the same thing
what happens if you do it?
what can you do to avoid it?
is it in your own words?
yes
no
is it a quote?
(did you put it in quotation marks
or a quote block?)
is it either your own idea or
something everyone knows?
yes
no
cite it!
yes
no problem, you don't need to cite
no
you need to show it's a quote* and...
this is called paraphrasing...

A Very Short Introduction to KHS.

The school’s entry in the world’s second most famous encyclopedia states that:

Kingham Hill School is an independent Christian school based on the
Church of England denomination. It was founded by local Christian
landowner Charles Edward Baring Young in 1886 as a home for
deprived boys and was designed by the architect William Howard
Seth-Smith. The school is located in Oxfordshire near the village of
Kingham and the town of Chipping Norton. ("Kingham Hill School.")

Many distinguished teachers have roamed its grounds but the current head is perhaps the most joyful “I’m full of joy” (Seward 142).

The older students attend the sixth form which is shown to be the best dressed section of school, with 100% more style than for instance year 7 (Chapman 26).

High levels of decorum are upheld by Mr Rob Jones, who describes one particular situation “Right, it was like this, no actually I can’t tell you it’s too outrageous”.

And that’s everything you need to know about KHS, sort of.
