THE COURSE AND OUTCOMES OF THE VSA REVOLUTION
September 22, 2014
Overview of the Revolution
The VSA Revolution began in 2012 at Victoria Shanghai Academy in hong Kong in reaction to multiple factors at the school: poor food at the cafeteria, incompetent teachers, corrupt elections for the Student Council, a resented dress code, and an administration not responsive, and even hostile, to the idea of change. To this date the revolution has brought major changes to VSA. Some argue the revolution still continues today under the leadership of the School Spirit Council: Generalissimo Santella, Chairman Shire, and Premier Burford.
TO What extent was the VSA revolution a success?
GOALS of the REVOLUTION
-to replace the dictatorial, uncaring administration and replace it with a more students friendly & student centered one.
-to upgrade the quality of food in the cafeteria
-to end the corruption within the Student Council
-to end the dress code
-to rid the school of teachers who only care about getting through the day just to get closer to their vacations, who never provided relevant feedback to student work, and who consistently abused their powers to extract payments from the students
TO WHAT EXTENT DID THEY ACHIEVE THESE GOALS? AND IF SO, AT WHAT COST?
-to replace the dictatorial, uncaring administration and replace it with a more students friendly & student centered one.
-to upgrade the quality of food in the cafeteria
-to end the corruption within the Student Council
-to end the dress code

Give reasons to back up your point
The Fall of the old order happened on September 13, 2012 when the year 7s, 8s, and 9s rallied on the fifth floor, calling for Principal Parker to address their needs. The pressure in the form of too much homework, uncaring/incompetent teachers, bad food in the cafeteria, and corruption among the student council members (member had taken bribes from Chartwell's in the form of better food in return for not addressing the overall food quality for the general student population). The students demanded action and it was clear that Principal Parker lacked the support needed to govern. He escaped in the middle of the night, wearing a wig, and went back to England, hoping that someday he could return. The OLD ORDER HAD FALLEN.
