James Monroe
James Monroe is the 5th president of the united states. He was born on April 28, 1758. He was in office from 1817-1825. His state of birth is virginia. His party is Democrat- Republican.
James Monroe's father was Spence Monroe. His mothers name was Elizabeth Jones Monroe. He was married to Elizabeth "Eliza" Kortnight. James Monroe had three children. Their names were, Eliza Kortright Monroe (1786-1835), James Spence Monroe (1799-1800). and Maria Hester Monroe (1803-50).
Religion: Episcopalian
Education: Graduated from college of William and Mary (1776)
Occupation: Lawyer
His salary is $25,000 dollars per year
In 1779 Monroe was in Virginia trying to raise a rigiment, but Virginia was man-poor and money-poor, and studied law under Governor thomas Jefferson
He was the first president to have been U.S. Senator
In 1823 President James Monroe had warned European nations not to infere in the western hemisphere. This was known as the Monroe Doctrine.
Monroe's inauguration in 1817 was the first to be held outdoors
