The -ly Rule: When adding the suffixe -ly, you do not usually change the spelling of the original word. Nice + ly = nicely. Mean + ness = meanness ****** Exception: true + ly = truly Spelling Rulez! Manage + ing + managing Keep the silent E from a base word when u add a suffix that begins with a consonant. Manage + ment = management *****EXCEPTION: If the base word ends in CE or GE and the vowel that begins the suffix is and A or E, keep the silent E in order to maintain proper pronunciation.
