That is what the nickname for Missouri is.
A man named Willard Duncan Vandiver said once:
" I come from a state that raises corn and cotton and cockleburs and democrats, and frothy eloquence niether convinces nor satisfies me.I am from
Missouri. You have got to show me." That is how
Missouri got its nickname. Who is the Governor of Missouri and what is their job? Jay Nixon is the current governor of Missouri.
The governor before him was Matt Blunt. The governor is like the president exept they are
just in charge of the state. The president is in
charge of the country. What about the lieutenant governor? The current lieutenant governor is Peter Kinder. The lieutenant governor is like the vice president. The state rock is the Mozarkite Famous Missourians Josephine Baker was an Entertainer from St.Louis Missouri who was famous for her dancing,acting,and singing in New York City and Paris,France. She also fought for civil rights in the 1950s and 1960s. William Wells Brown was an author and playright who was born into slavery near Lexington,Kentucky. He came to Missouri in 1816 with his master,mother,and his brothers and sisters. He served many people until he escaped in 1834 by using the underground railroad. Josephine Baker William Wells Brown Josephine Baker Missouri Flag Scot Hayden was born in Sedalia,Missouri on March 30,1882.
He composed and performed ragtime music.He performed
many of his songs with Scot Joplin. He died in Chicago
of Tuberculosis on September 16,1915.Tuberculosis is a
bacterial infection that usually affects the lungs. The circled man in the middle is Scott Hayden Chester Arthur Franklin was a journalist who
published and edited The Kansas Call from 1919 to 1955. His first issue was published on May 6,1919. Thomas Hart Benton was a muralist.He liked to paint murals and paintings of everyday life.He painted one of his murals at the state capital and it takes up the entire wall space on all four walls of the room.
