Facts about Child Labour Work for lower wages and do not get payed overtime. Children and Youth who go to school end up dropping out, to get money, and have no chances for an education. Cheaper to employ because of no education. Expected to work with no air conditioning, not enough breaks and abusive employers. In the year 2004, about 250 million children between the ages of 5 and 14 were working in jobs that ranged from farming to factories and prostitution. pg 303 textbook. Some factories are operated twenty-four hours a day. Many child and youth workers are exposed to dangerous chemicals and bad fumes. 126.3 million children and youth are caught in the worst forms of child labour.
