Iron is a brittle, hard substance, classified as a metal in Group 8 on the Periodic Table of the Elements. The most abundant of all metals, its pure form rapidly corrodes from exposure to moist air and high temperatures.
Iron is a chemical element with symbol Fe and its atomic number 26. It is a metal in the first transition series. It is by mass the most common element on Earth.

Who discovered Iron
Nobody knows who was the first person to discover iron. Becasue iron has been used since prehistory. The Ancient Egyptians and Sumerians began using iron on the tips of spears and in some ornaments around 4000 BC.
Nobody knows when e mineral Iron was discovered because it is unknow of the person that discovered Iron. But scientist think it was found around 1500 b.c.
Iron is important because it can be used in many ways. Like iron is used in food for minerals. and it is also used to construct structures.
