Design in context Visual Communications are a reflection of their time This can be seen in many areas including fashion, architecture, graphic design, and product design In this outcome, we will be exploring
key design movements and what influenced the designs of these times The particular look of a design is a product of the choices in media, methods, materials, design elements
and design principles. Influences include social, political, technological, religious environmental and economic. Art Nouveau

Focus on the natural but embracing

Reaction against Modernist ideals
Could be seen applied to architecture, painting, poster art and sculpture Key design features:
Streamline Geometric stepped forms representing power, speed and technology
