OBJECTIVE
To prevent injuries in construction

To improve employee safety in construction industry by applying ergonomic requirements

• Constructions are dynamic and mostly short-term jobs.
• Work sites do not supply continuity and they are temporary.
• Work conditions are changing according to work places.
• More than one subcontractor works in constructions.
• Work sites are wide and disorganized. It is not easy to provide collective protection precautions.
• There are so many uneducated and unqualified workers

Floor and Ground-Level Works
Workers may have to stoop or kneel when installing or finishing slabs, decks, or floor coverings.
Bending, stooping, kneeling and squatting can cause pain in worker's lower back or knees.
When stooping or kneeling, worker can’t lift, push or pull as much weight without putting stress on workers’ body.

Manuel Concrete Screeds
It puts major stresses on his back, knees, hands, arms, and shoulders, which may lead to serious muscle or joint injuries.
Overhead Work
Lifting, Holding, and Handling Materials
Although it is common today to use mechanical devices for some of this work, a lot of materials are still handled manually.
If worker lift and carry materials often or for long periods of time, there is constant stress on his back and shoulders.

Hand-Intensive Works
This work can put stress on worker's hand, wrist, and/or elbow, causing discomfort and pain.

Sometimes workers need to work overhead, reaching up with one or both arms raised above his shoulders.
Overhead work put stress on worker’s shoulders and neck.

To protect workers from health and security hazards which can be caused by working places,

Falling from high and crashing of tools which fall down from buildings
Filets to prevent falls of heavy materials and workers
Make assembly related works on floors
Accidents with transport vehicles
Sensors to prevent crushing and squeezes
Contact with the dangerous substances
Proper equipments
Hearing loss due to noises
Put on ear protectors during noisy works
Staying under the ground, sinking in the swamp
prepared equipment in constructions to save workers from these situations.

Important Note:
Regarding to the hazards classes of work health and safety policy, construction sector placed on “HIGHLY DANGEROUS” class.
Solution
Use an auto-feed screw gun with an extension that allows you to stand upright while working. Stand-up screw guns that automatically feed the screws are available.


Keep construction area tidy and clean

Decide on the transportation rout of equipments, movements and passes in working places of the construction area

Organize equipments’ terms of use and conditions of carriage

Perform technical maintenance and control of facility and equipment before using them and periodically

Allocate proper storage areas and their boarders for different kinds of equipments and especially for hazardous materials and substances



Regulate the terms of use and removal conditions of equipments

Provide the storage and removal of waste and residual materials

Redetermine the foreseen durations of various jobs and phases of jobs according to the work that is done at the construction area

Pay attention to the interaction of the industrial activities within or near to the construction area

Change work rules and provide training. Rules can require that materials be stored off the ground. There should be a specific time for work without any break.
