Our Egg Drop Experiment
For our science fair project, we did an egg drop to see if an egg would crack if we made a protective container/box to ease the fall from a 2nd story story balcony.
Our topic is an egg drop.
Angelina's: I don't think that my egg will crack because I wrapped my egg and box very well.
Isabella's: I don't think that my egg will crack because I wrapped my egg and box very well.
Jessica's: I think that my protective container will protect my egg because I put a lot of padding and a lot of protection on the bottom and the egg.
Our future directions would be to make more containers and try using tinfoil and other materials, to make a protective container for the egg. Also more directions would be to have someone down on the ground to videotape the egg as it was falling and its reaction. We also should have gotten more pictures, but that’s not a huge problem. Also in the future we should allow ourselves to have more time to construct our containers.
If we drop an egg off a second story balcony then it will crack, but if we make protective containers to protect the egg, will it crack?

Start thinking about which materials will help you not crack your egg.
Start making you protective container.
When finished, drop your control egg, then your protective container and see which one cracked more.
And there you have it!!!!

Overall the results were good. When we put one egg in our protective container, none of them broke. The second time we put 2 eggs in the protective container. Isabella lost one and the other one cracked. Jessica had one egg crack and Angelina didn't have any eggs crack.
An experiment was conducted to test if eggs would crack if we provided extra protection for them. Our hypothesis was that if we made protective containers for the eggs , then they would not crack as easily because we provided protection. Our hypotheses were supported. The results overall were positive. After analysis this shows our protective containers kept them from cracking. To improve this experiment we should make more protective containers to get more results. To further investigate the egg drop we should drop the egg containers in different positions and in different containers/boxes.
Bubble wrap helps us by cushioning the egg from the impact when it hits the ground. Both bubble wrap and foam contains air pockets which helps ease the pressure that the egg would experience as its falling. Plastic egg cartons are a good solution to this problem because they protect the eggs inside and out by securing the egg tightly. Hard plastic eases the egg cartons break-ability. The plastic egg cartons are more popular because of its qualities.
