Things Fall Apart Objective Today we will be looking at two different perspectives. We will be looking at colonialism/imperialism from the perspective of the colonizer and from the perspective of the colonized. You will be looking at various different resources and answering questions about them. Then you will create a t-chart comparing the two different views of colonialism. Colonizer Refers to the people who were sent out to live in a
new place and establish political, economic and cultural control over a group of people. Colonizer vs Colonized Colonized Refers to the group of people who were colonized. Those who were conquered. Questions 1. How did colonialism begin? 2. How did the people react to the colonists? 3. What held this group of people together? 4.Why do you think people began to convert to the new religion? 5. What do you think the last sentence means? Standard 10.4.3 Explain imperialism from the perspective of the colonizers and the colonized and the varied immediate and long-term responses by the people under colonial rule. Questions Assignment I Create a T-chart showing the characteristics of each perspective and how each side views colonialism, the colonizer and the colonized. Assignment II Write a one paragraph reflection answering the question: Based on the sources, how did the two sides, colonizer and colonized, view each other?
