Cellular Respiration

Photosynthesis occurs in the chloroplast;
an organelle filled with the molecule chlorophyll.
Chloroplast
Chlorophyll molecules are inside of chloroplasts.
Chlorophyll absorbs the suns
radiant energy
Chlorophyll is a pigment
and a pigment is a color
The goal of Photosynthesis is to convert the radiant energy from the sun into stored energy.
Cellular Respiration occurs in plant and animal cells.
Cellular Respiration follows Photosynthesis in plants.
Animals eat plants and herbivores to get the reactants for Respiration.
Cellular Respiration occurs in Mitochondria, another organelle, which plant and animal cells both have.
The goal of Cellular Respiration is to convert stored energy into chemical energy.
Reactants = the "ingredients"
These go into the chemical reaction to be made into the products.
Photosynthesis is a chemical reactions.
Chemical reactions have reactants and products.
Products = what is made
These are the result of the chemical reaction.

You are REACTANTS! Ingredients for photosyntheis.

The light bulbs represent chlorophyll.
They have captured the light!

When I turn the lights on....your electron bonds will go crazy and all your bonds will break! The light "excites the electrons".
You are now floating atoms and you will rearrange as the PRODUCTS of photosynthesis.
I will make the oxygen...YOU make the glucose!
