Transcript of Macbeth's Tragic Flaw

“Our spirits shine through you. Within this hour at most I will advise you where to plant yourselves, Acquaint you with the perfect spy o' th' time, The moment on ’t; for ’t must be done tonight, And something from the palace; always thought. That I require a clearness. And with him— To leave no rubs nor botches in the work— Fleance, his son, that keeps him company, Whose absence is no less material to me. Than is his father’s, must embrace the fate”
Macbeth (Act 3, Scene 1, Page 6)
What other evidence is there?

-Macbeth, after his encounter with the 3 witches, has soliloquies about King Duncan being in the way of him becoming King

-Macbeth feels Banquo might tell on him
What is Macbeth's flaw?

Macbeth’s flaw is that he kills people who have trust in him whenever he feels threatened

Background on the celebrity who shares Macbeth's flaw

Lizzie Andrew Borden was an American woman who was tried and acquitted, because of lack of evidence and also because of lack of forensic evidence, in 1892 for the axe murders of her father and stepmother in Fall River, Massachusetts. You can hear about what she did in a children rhyme called Lizzie Borden.
Evidence of the Similarities between Lizzie and Macbeth

-LB may have loved her family, but saw them standing in the way of the $$$, since her family was rich but never really used the money

-Macbeth may have admired King Duncan, but he saw him in the way of Macbeth becoming King
Evidence of the Similarities between Lizzie and Macbeth
Their are many similarities between Lizzie Borden and Macbeth, one is that they
kill people who are supposed to be close to them. A
nother is that they
kill people to get what they want
, and
will hurt anyone if they step in their way

Tragic Flaws
Once an opportunity makes itself, there are people who will go great lengths to seize it.

Lizzie Borden saw the opportunity to gain wealth. She did anything to gain it

The witches prophesized a future where Macbeth was King, and this prophecy helped the world see him for who he truly was...

“Upon my head they placed a fruitless crown And put a barren scepter in my grip, Thence to be wrenched with an unlineal hand, No son of mine succeeding. If ’t be so, For Banquo’s issue have I filed my mind.”
Macbeth (Act 3 Scene 1 Line 63)
