Elizabeth, Jeremy Hall,
"a vast computer network linking smaller computer networks worldwide (usually preceded by the ). The Internet includes commercial, educational, governmental, and other networks, all of which use the same set of communications protocols.''
The INTERNET is a place full of media, games, videos, information... and
of the INTERNET:
By giving away too much information, you are allowing yourself to be
. People whom you have never met can easily find you and follow you thanks to information you have online. Be careful what you put out for everyone to see!!!!
to put on the internet:
Bank Account information
Where you live
Your full name
Nearly 43% of kids have been bullied online. One in four has had it happen more than once.
If you suffer from cyberbullying. Tell someone! It's no good to keep it to yourself, if you tell someone, they can HELP. Cyberbullying is serious, and can even lead some to commit suicide. GET HELP, and most importantly, DON'T BULLY!!!
Viruses are malware that infect your computer.
They can harm your hardware and software and they can corrupt and damage files.
Don't accept files from people you don't know. Don't click on links or downloads that seem sketchy. Ask your parents or search if the link is safe to use.
The internet is the perfect facade for predators... people can lie about who they really are. If someone you have never met ever asks to meet up with you, SAY NO! and tell your parents. 12 year old Jimmy from Cleveland could really be a 50 year old predator. Try to avoid chat rooms. AND NEVER GIVE OUT ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION!
This is when people will assume your person, your identity online. They can steal personal information such as credit card or banking information. When they have this information they can impersonate you and deceive others. Keep your personal information personal.
"Alex spent many hours chatting online in his bedroom. Other kids knew he was thinking about taking his own life. They dared him to commit suicide, thinking it was a big joke.
He was deadly serious. One afternoon while he was home alone, Alex pulled his grandfather's antique shotgun out from under a bed, loaded it with shells and killed himself''
In 2011, A movie about Cyberbullying was made to show the hardships of cyberbully victims and try to help decrease bullying.
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY...
STOP. THINK. CONNECT.
