The Solar System
Mercury
•Only takes 88 Earth days to go around the sun (a Mercury year)
•A Mercury day last 176 Earth days
•Day time temperature is around 420 degrees celsius and at night can be minus 180 degrees Celsius

Venus
•The temperature is approximately 475 degrees Celsius
•Some mountains on Venus are higher than Mt Everest
•It rains sulphuric acid which would dissolve you!

Earth
•Travels through space at 30km/second and travels 960 million km/year
•Is three quarters ocean
•Has one moon which is 3,476 km away
•Atmosphere protects living things from the deadly sun rays
Mars
Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun in the Solar System. The planet is named after the Roman god of war, Mars. It is also referred to as the "Red Planet" because of its reddish appearance
Jupiter
Jupiter is the fifth planet from the Sun and the largest planet within the Solar System. Jupiter has a very faint ring system, but is totally invisible from the Earth Saturn
Saturn is the sixth planet from the Sun and the second largest planet in the Solar System, after Jupiter. Saturn, along with Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune, is classified as a gas giant. Uranus
Uranus is the seventh planet from the sun
Uranus is the third largest Planet
Uranus has 27 Moons
Uranus has some rings but they are not very well seen and not a lot is known about them
Neptune
Neptune is the eighth planet from the sun
Neptune is 17times the size of Earth
Neptune has 13 Moons
Pluto
Pluto is known as a Dwarf Planet
Pluto’s rotation period (equal to an Earth day) takes 6.39 Earth Days.
Pluto's atmosphere is made up of nitrogen, methane, and carbon monoxide gases
Pluto is less than half the size of Earth
