People can have bad and good influences on you
In the text Monkey See, Monkey Do, Monkey Connect by Frans de Waal, the people you surround yourself with can have a bad or good influence on you. In the text, Frans de Waal states that parents can effect their children's behavior and that "children often walk like the same-sex parent or mimic their tone of voice when they pick up the phone"(De Waal125). This can be a bad influence or good influence on children. For example, if a child hears their mom or dad on the phone saying things that children shouldn't repeat this can be bad because they may repeat what they hear. The people that we surround our self with might not be our choice, they might be a parent or guardian figure.

In the text,
With Friends Like These
by, Dorothy Rowe the people you surround yourself with can benefit you or bring you down. In the text
With Friends Like These
, Dorothy Rowe states, "such people give us the kind of validation that builds a lasting self-confidence"(Rowe143). The people we like to call our "Friends" validate us, they can say something about us to make us feel awkward and that can affect us in an emotional way and, because we care about what they think we might actually start to have a bad self-confidence.
"With friends like these"
In the Public Service announcement C
ount On Us
by the Corporation for National and Community Service is about everyone helping each other out in difficult times. In the Public Service announcement the corporation expresses through words, "After Hurricane Katrina, 110,000 National Service Participants served in the Gulf Coast...we assisted 3,000,000 people...and served 1.6 million meals"(Count on us). The people that helped out probably didn't know who they were helping but the people that you choose to surround yourself with can help you a lot in life. The people you do you can help just as much as the people who do not know you.
"Count on us"
All of these sources relate to our main point, the people you surround yourself with can have a good or bad influence on you. In
Monkey See, Monkey Do, Monkey Connect
, the parents had an effect on their children, by influencing bad behavior. In
Friends Like These
, your friends can effect your self- esteem, this is another influence of bad behavior. However, in
Count On Us
, the volunteers all work together and have a positive influence in other people, which causes others to help people in need.
