Leadership Characteristics
Think of a leader who inspired you and made you feel good about yourself.

Now think about the characteristics of a leader who made you feel hopeless or useless

What is most memorable about them? Their

Emotional Health Levels
What does Vertical Development look like? We use the word
Emotional Health
and measure it in levels. As you become more emotionally healthy you have a larger range of behaviours and a lower degree of self centeredness
How do I raise my emotional health?
Use wisdom from 3 centers - head, heart and body (gut)
Switch on inner observer as much as possible
Awareness of triggers that send you 'below the line' (automatic, defensive behaviours)
Increase mindfulness, presence
Emotionally Healthy Leaders
We portrayed 3 emotionally healthy leaders in our book 'The Emotionally Healthy Leader' and looked at 9 key distinctions. You may recognise the model of the Enneagram in this!
Emotional Intelligence went from nothing to great prominence within 10 years. Now everyone realises how key it is to great leadership!

We want Emotional Health to do the same – and the time is now

Qualities vs competencies
Competency = set of defined behaviors that provide a structured guide enabling the identification, evaluation and development of the behaviors in individual employees.

Quality = an attribute, characteristic or distinguishing feature of a person. It is generally associated with the way in which people care for and engage with others, lead their life and through example.

Choosing Your Responses
So let’s start by activating our “inner observer” and better understanding our own actions and responses.
