How do you shift from provider to facilitator?
What do you know about your learners?
When and where do you prefer to do your learning?
Do they need to be here?
"Schools and educators must have the capacity to know each learner well through regular diagnoses, customizable learning maps, and data platforms that capture learner skills, interests, and learning styles in addition to academic outcomes." -- CDE
Know the Learner:
A variety of learning environments that support personalization exist both in and out of the classroom. Classroom layouts, digital resources, and community partnerships that support learner led, inquiry based and experiential learning models are considered.
Learning Environments:
Human capital is an essential component of this vision and is re-imagined to better leverage individual educator skills and interests with student needs. Learners work in teams, and benefit from digital resources, operating in models that emphasize coaching, differentiated instruction, and experiential learning. Educators become facilitators of learning rather than sole providers.
Human Capital:
Student and educator schedules adjust to the changing dynamics of the learning environment. Anytime/anyplace learning exists at point of need rather than being bound to traditional school hours and calendars.
Time:
The capacity exists to allow a variety of inquiry based and experiential delivery methods both in and out of the classroom. Delivery methods that account for student choice, interests, and needs based on clear learning targets and collaborative learning models lead to an ACHIEVE Graduate.
Delivery Methods:
In order to prepare every student for a world yet to be imagined, we must take advantage of modern tools and resources to personalize for each and every learner. Personalization consists of tailoring learning to the needs of each student, creating flexible learning environments in and out of school, re-imagining how we use human capital, providing learning opportunities unrestricted by traditional school times or calendars, and implementing a wide variety of content delivery methods.
