IPADS in the Classroom! Great articles on the use of iPads in the classroom:
http://wirededucator.wordpress.com/2010/04/15/an-ipad-in-every-classroom-teacher-tested-student-approved/
http://itcboisestate.wordpress.com/2010/04/23/ipad-2/. The first article is titled An iPad in Every Classroom:
Teacher Tested, Student Approved and it talks about the pros and cons to using
the iPad in the classroom.
Pros
* fast and easy to use
* everything is saved automatically
* great for reading books, watching videos, and exploring
the web
* battery lasts a long time, can last an entire shcool day
* small and light
* engaging for students

Cons
* can't print
* difficult to type on The second article talks about 10 ways to use the iPad in your classroom.
I really liked the idea of loading the iPad with ebooks and assigning readings that way. It's nice because you can store so many books on the iPad and they are always right at your finger tips. You don't have to worry about checking out books, or carrying a lot of books around.
I also liked the idea of having students watch educational videos on the iPad and then blogging about them. This site suggested viewing the videos in groups and I loved that idea. I would have different groups watch different videos and then blog about them and create presentations to share with the class. This is a great youtube video of how you could use the iPad in your classroom! How the iPad can be used in the classroom
read ebooks
blog
watch movies
practice spelling words
practice math problems
search the web for information

Benefits of using the iPad in the classroom

so much content at your fingertips NET-S Standards In my classroom I would use
the iPad for reading books and
watching videos. 1. Students demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge, and develop innovative products and processes using technology. 2. Students use digital media and environments to communicate and work collaboratively, including at a distance, to support individual learning and contribute to the learning of others. 3. Students apply digital tools to gather, evaluate, and use information. 4. Students use critical
thinking skills to plan and
conduct research, manage
projects, solve problems,
and make informed decisions
using appropriate digital tools
and resources. 5. Students understand human, cultural, and social issues related to technology and practice legal and ethical behavior. 6.Students demonstrate a sound understanding of technology concepts, systems, and operations. iPads are a great teaching tool for all classrooms!!
