Past treatments
In the greek times they believed sex would be the only thing that could stop anxiety.
In the Renaissance people believed since they were witches they needed to be executed.
In the Victorian era they believed electric shock would heal the women.
Generalized anxiety disorder is a disorder when somebody's anxiety is triggered by not just one thing but by many things
Cause/symptoms of (GAD)
People who have a lot of worries and are constantly worrying have a good chance of getting GAD.
History on Anxiety
Treatments

When people have anxiety the most known treatment includes therapy.
What is (GAD)
Anyone can have generalized anxiety, adults who have it often worry about everyday life like finances, household responsibilities
Children who have (GAD) worry about performance at school or sports or even social events.
GAD can cause physical symptoms as well such as restlessness, shakiness, disturbed sleep, difficulty concentrating etc.
GAD can effect peoples focus and jobs by having constant thoughts and physical symptoms.
Medication is also a very common and useful treatment
Therapists mention two types of treatment called DBT & CBT
Breathing exercises and trying to stop negative thoughts can help people to work through anxiety
Carrie Underwood has had GAD since high school
She stated that she needs personal space for example at the gym she needs the treadmill that's not next to anybody
Fight or flight?
This means that when somebody has anxiety they have two options:
1. They fight the situation, meaning they go through the situation no matter how hard it is.

2. They flight. Meaning they run away from the problem and avoid the situation.

In the Renaissance people believe if a women had anxiety then they are a witch.
In the Victorian era people believed women were crazy and the cause was they stayed inside too much
In greek times they believed women had anxiety because their uterus walked around their body
CBT & DBT
CBT also known as cognitive behavioral therapy is a way of changing somebody's negative patterns and changing their thoughts and behavior.
DBT also known as dialectical behavioral therapy stops negative thoughts from happening and turning them into a more positive outlook.
DBT also goes hand in hand with mindfulness meaning how to take over your mind before the mind takes over you.
