Role of the English
The role of the English included the Plymouth, Jamestown, and Roanoke of the Lost Colony
In the late 1500s, the English made their first attempts to settle in North America Roanoke Island, which is off the coast of North Carolina

Effects of the English Settlements
The effects of the English included the English Colonists relying on Native Americans for trade, and help for survival, along with survival while leaving England
Trade analyzed the Native Americans to lead to major conflict with the Indians

A large and powerful empire that attracted people
Exploration of the Mother Country led to more people wanting to go there

The English relied on fish, hunting, corn, and other crops
The Native Americans also taught the English the slash and burn technique
The Native Americans also helped grow tobacco

Roanoke was called the lost colony because it mysteriously disappeared.

America’s first permanent English colony, in Virginia in 1607
In order to make a profit for the Virginia Company, settlers tried a number of small industries.

Plymouth is the place the mayflower landed.
Among the group traveling on the Mayflower in 1620 were close to 40 members of a radical Puritan faction known as the English Separatist Church.

The Effect of the English on the Native Americans
The Native Americans taught the pilgrims how to grow corn, beans, pumpkin. They also taught them how to fish and hunt beaver.
The Native Americans didn't fully understand what the English said.
Indians developed a complex system of agriculture based on corn, beans, and, squash.
Massasoit met with Captain Myles Standish and others to negotiate a peace treaty. They agreed that while trading.
The Indians wouldn't bring their bows and the Pilgrims wouldn't bring their guns.
