In 2011 Luke Hemmings, Calum Hood and Michael Clifford who met at Northwest Christian School in Sydney, Australia formed a band and started posting covers of songs on their youtube account 'Hemmo1996'.
Luke first started doing covers on youtube but then was later joined by Michael and Calum. Their first cover was 'I miss you' by Blink 182 which has 331,818 views today.
A year later they announced a new dummer named Ashton Irwin. Now they had completed the band and continued making covers together.
Soon they released a ep called 'Unplugged' which was on the top 30 charts in Australia, New Zealand and Sweden.
After doing covers for a bit 5sos gets discovered by Louis Tomlinson of One Direction and gets their link to their video 'Out of my limit' which got over 100,000 views in 24 hours was posted in One Directions 'Gotta Be You'. Louis later shows the other boys and they decide to let them be the opening act for the Take Me Home tour.
Before Starting the tour they released another album called somewhere new. The album included songs like 'Unpredictable'.
They kicked off the tour preforming before One Direction at the O2 arena in London on the 23rd of february 2013.
They where the opening for them in the Uk, USA, Australia and New Zealand.
During the breaks they did a quick tour in the Uk.
5sos are currently working on their new album and finishing up the last of the Take Me Home tour in Australia and New Zealand. They released one of the songs on youtube thats going to be on the album. After the tour is done they are going to start their own tour that will go around to the Us and the Uk as well as Australia.
