Welcome to the
Social Science Library Go to the library sessions at the beginning of the year as they are so useful! Take a walk around the library – you may find rooms and shelves of resources that you didn’t realise you had access too.
The SSL is generally much better to work in than your college library – fewer people you know to distract you. Go through reading lists and find books well in advance, they might not be there the night before your deadline! You can reserve books if the one you need is already on loan. Don’t sit with your friends! Renew online to avoid fines – I’m an idiot for not doing this myself! The staff are really friendly. It took me about 3 weeks to work out that I could access journal articles online – obvious really but I wish I’d listened. If you get stuck ask them for help. You can buy and borrow lots of useful stuff from the library desk, like USB sticks and headphones.
