History
It started in Middle Ages when they were only tall boxes with 3 or 4 dolls.
It appeared as a celebration of the spring equinox
New techniques have allowed the creation of fallas over 30 m high

"Casal faller": organized group of people who produce the construction called Falla
Monument=Falla
The faller dress is based on regional and historical costumes from different eras.
Crews of artists and artisans elaborate them with paper, wood,etc
Theme of the monument: satirical jab.
Over 750 agroupations of people( Casals fallers) in the city.
Each day begins at 8:00 am with the wake-up call
Brass bands march down every street playing lively music
The night before the 15th of March all Fallas have to be completed.
Explosive barrage of coordinated firecracker and fireworks.
At 2:00 pm every day from the 1st of May until the 19th in the City Hall Square.
Each of the casals takes an offering of flowers to trhe Virgin Mary.
The statue is totally covered with the flowers.
Spectacular celebration of fire
Colourful and noisy event featuring exhibitions of rites from all around the world
Fireworks displays in the old riverbed.
Each night is progressively grander
It takes place on the final night of Fallas, around midnights.
Monuments burnt as huge bonfires.
This year Fallas are nominated to become Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
Massive tourist attraction, incalculable cultural value.
